Overview
We are seeking an artist to design and paint a series of 10 utility boxes in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. This project aims to transform everyday infrastructure into vibrant visual storytelling that reflects the culture, history, and energy of the neighborhood.
Leimert Park is a historic center of Black art, music, and culture in Los Angeles. Selected artwork should celebrate community identity while enhancing the public streetscape.
Call for Artists:
Leimert Park Utility Box Mural Program
Project Scope
Design and paint 10 traffic signal utility boxes
Locations will be within the Leimert Park area (specific sites provided upon selection)
Artist is responsible for design and installation
All materials will be covered by Leimert Park Garden Tour
Work must be suitable for high-visibility public space
Artist Stipend
A $3,000 stipend will be provided to the selected artist
Stipend is intended to cover artist time, design, and execution
